The committee has been working very hard to and enabled us to rehearse in person again!

Next week (11/11/20) will be our first rehearsal back on campus at the Copland theatre. We will also be having a slightly shorter rehearsal going from 7:00-8:30 with no break.

To manage COVID-19 restrictions we will be maintaining extended social distancing and there will be no food or drinks shared like we used to. Please see the attached COVID-19 Safety Plan for the full list of restrictions and requirements for attending the rehearsal.

If you plan on coming next week, please fill out the declaration at the bottom of the COVID-19 Safety Plan (attached in the email, please check your mail box) and send it back or bring it next week in person. As always, please do what is best for your health and if you feel uncomfortable coming and rehearsing in person there is still a way for you to stay involved! We will run a zoom at the same time so you can join remotely.

We would like to especially thank Lachlan who has worked particularly hard to make this all come together. See you around! :)

Next week we're starting our musicianship workshops! Conductor Matt will be running a "Four-week Faure foray", looking at different aspects of Faure's Requiem. This will prepare us perfectly for singing Faure's requiem *in real life* once we start in-person rehearsals again!

These are the topics we will be discussing:
5/9/20: What is a Requiem?
- The origins of Requiems, their format and structure, examples of better and lesser known ones
12/9/20: A musician's guide to Faure's Requiem
- Looking at some interesting compositional features
19/9/20: Who was Faure?
- Exploration of his time and place, and some of his other music
26/9/20: Faure's Requiem in time
- How performances of the work have developed and changed over the 130-odd years of its life

The workshops won't be directly building up on eachother - so don't worry if you miss one, just come along to the next one!

- We won't be charging membership fees for this semester

- If you have already paid your membership fee for Semester 1 2020, this will be automatically carried over to Semester 1 2021, when we're hoping to be able to resume in-person rehearsals

- Most of you will still have the scores for Faure's Requiem and Rutter's Gloria you borrowed at the start of the year. If you are planning on sticking with the choir, please keep them, but make sure you don't lose them! (if you want to avoid fees and the eternal wrath of Suzannah, our librarian)

- If you're not planning on continuing in 2021 and would like a refund of your 2020 membership fees, please e-mail us to organise a time and place to return your borrowed scores. After you've returned the scores, our treasurer John Rogers (treasurer@scuna.aicsa.org.au) will sort you out with the refund
